About the Department

Department of Medical Electronics

The Medical Electronics applies electronics and instrumentation to healthcare, designing and developing medical devices, diagnostic equipment, and health monitoring systems that assist doctors in patient diagnosis and treatment.

The Undergraduate Programme in B.E. Medical Electronics, established in 2019, is dedicated to delivering high-quality education in the field of medical electronics for engineering students. Since attaining autonomous status in 2019, the institution has been consistently enhancing its curriculum and syllabus through regular Board of Studies meetings, ensuring alignment with evolving industry requirements and the development of highly employable graduates.

The Department is supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members with specializations in Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Electronics, and Applied Electronics. They are actively engaged in the teaching–learning process and contribute significantly to research in electronics with medical applications. Faculty members also regularly participate in and organize academic and professional events to stay aligned with the latest technological advancements, thereby enhancing their expertise and contributing to the overall development of students and the institution.

One of the key advantages of pursuing the Medical Electronics course here is that students gain direct exposure to real clinical environments. They are provided opportunities to visit the in-house hospital as well as SIMS Hospital, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRM MCHRC) and other renowned colleges and hospitals where they can observe and learn through hands-on demonstrations of advanced and sophisticated medical equipment.

Medical Electronics Department
Medical Electronics Laboratory

The Department of Medical Electronics signed MoU with leading hospitals and companies like SIMS Hospital, Focus Imaging Systems, Atheenapandian Pvt Ltd and KAV Biomedical Equipment Training & Education, Sri Balaji Medical College and Hospital.

Industry- Institute interaction with health care organizations like PERS-BMES, Histogenetics India PVT Ltd, PERS Biomedical Engineering Services, Mazumudar Shaw Medical Foundation and Atheenapandian Pvt Ltd.

Students of Medical Electronics undergone internship training on Industrial based Embedded systems with AI and IoT . Hospital internship is mandatory to students and they have visited SIMS Hospital, Vadapalani, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. Kattankulathur .

The students have been successfully placed in reputed organizations such as Zifo, Accenture, CTS, HealthWatch, TCS, Avasoft, IMEG Engineering (P) Ltd, ValGenesis, the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, and Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Hospital. The students have secured higher education opportunities at leading institutions, including University of Houston-USA, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology-Germany, IIT Madras, SRM Institute of Science & Technology and SSN Institution.
